Tandem Ventures Awarded Bronzeville Lakefront Development with 7 Million Square Feet of Commercial, Institutional, and Mixed-Income Housing

Press Release, News

Tandem Ventures was recently awarded the $3.8 billion Bronzeville Lakefront development in Chicago’s South Side. The 48-acre site was acquired by the City of Chicago in 2009, following the closure of the former Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center.

The new development will create up to 7 million square feet of commercial, institutional, and mixed-income housing. The project is also expected to create up to 20,000 temporary and permanent jobs in the area.

Construction is currently underway for the southern portion of the development, including an innovation center, retail and residential spaces, a park, and a new-and-improved Singer Pavilion. The northern portion of the development will include medical research facilities, a data center, residential units, office spaces, and retail spaces, and its construction is expected to begin in 2023.
