Tandem Ventures recently provided government relations and compliance consulting services for Leopardo Construction for the renovation and reconstruction of a 248,000 square foot, 16- story hotel building at 226 W. Jackson Street in downtown Chicago. The historic 1904 building was converted from the headquarters of the City Colleges of Chicago into a 215-room Canopy by Hilton hotel, a 135- Hilton Landmark hotel, and an independent rooftop restaurant and lounge.

Construction included the complete demolition and renovation of the rooms, lobbies, amenities and meeting facilities. The building’s older structure presented several challenges, including the complete removal and rebuilding of the 15th and 16th floor and the renovation of six elevators and the addition of a seventh.

The project team included Phoenix Development, construction management firm Daccord, and Hartshore Plunkard Architecture. Construction was completed in Q4 2021.
