Former Ravenswood Hospital Transformed into Affordable Senior Living

Tandem Venture provided compliance consulting for Evergreen Real Estate Group and Leopardo Construction on its renovation of the nine-story former healthcare building into Ravenwood Senior Living, an affordable senior housing complex. The former Ravenswood Hospital building had been vacant for more than 15 years before being adapted into 193 senior residences.

Construction included a four-story steel addition off of the second floor to add additional units to the complex, complete façade rehabilitation, masonry restoration, new windows, a new entrance system, and the addition of outdoor amenity space with seating and landscaping. The units inside included 119 designated supported living units and 74 independent living units. Other members of the project team included Synergy Construction Group and Jerabek Wiltse Architects. The project was financed by the Chicago Housing Authority, Illinois Housing Development Authority, National Development Corporation, Key Bank, IFF, and the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program.
