Books & Buildings: Taylor Street Apartments & Little Italy Branch Library, a Win for the Community

Tandem Ventures recently provided regulatory compliance services for Related Midwest on its development and construction of Taylor Street Apartments and the Little Italy Branch Library at 1342 W. Taylor Street in Chicago. The eight-story, 73-unit building includes affordable, market-rate and Chicago Housing Authority residential units in the historic Little Italy neighborhood. The branch library provides a community space for residents of all ages for on-site programming and events.

The apartments and library are part of the Roosevelt Square development, a 120-acre multi-phase mixed-use community development that will bring residences, retail and green space to the neighborhood.

Project partners on the LEED Silver Certified project included architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and interior designers NIA Architects. Related Midwest continues to manage the property, which was the winner of ULI’s 2019 Chicago Vision Award for Affordable Housing & Visionary Collaboration.
